Legacy Knowledge

What if all lived experiences with a condition could be passed from one person or one generation to another like a handbook for living and operating with a set of unforeseen circumstances?

One would think a support group would serve this purpose, among others, but for me, it did not. If you have not read my blog post about support groups, you can find it here.

One would think a physician might serve this purpose, but they just cannot. It's not possible during a short checkup.

How can someone get this information? Maybe from a family member with the same condition title? Well, maybe. But with 30 different genes that turn on Rheumatoid Arthritis, how can two people know they have the same type?

Is it really possible that people cannot learn from each other or others' mistakes but have to make his/her/their own?

Until we have research connecting specific genes with patient profiles including markers of severity and disability, it is possible that each person, each patient, must continue to craft an individualized coping plan for dealing with the unrelenting pain of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
