Shorter and Shorter

I used to take 6 a.m. flights to far off places for work or pleasure. Perhaps that was an inhumane schedule, but I did it.

I worked every minute that I was obligated to work and then some. So worried about ensuring my employer's satisfaction with my work that I remained available at all hours of the day and evening.

Retreating to my bedroom for the night at 10 pm was the usual and lights out at 10:30 or 10:45 was the norm.

Now, I feel like the walking-wounded until about 9:00 in the morning and have every intention to be reclining comfortably at 7:00. I have to preserve, gather or plan for evening energy.

The days used to have 24 hours with about 6 reserved for resting or sleeping. These days, if I spend 3 hours warming up for the day, I might have 9 good hours to spend on work, home, errands and other activities. It seems the resting time has doubled from 6 to 12 hours, sometimes more.

The demands of life remain the same.

The days get shorter and shorter.
